The third edition of our street pole vault event "FLY ATHENS" was held in the outside area of the historic Panathenaic Stadium.
A lot of great athletes from Greece and from abroad joined our Silver (Continental tour) meeting and they will chase the high jumps and for the first time, there's going to be a women's competition! A big crowd was there to cheer everyone and help them go even higher!
In the men's competition the meeting record was broken by the meet organizer, Emmanouil Karalis, who jumped 5.82m to take the win as well. He then put the bar to 5.92m and had some great attempts but didn't pass it. He promised that next year (2025) he might jump 6 meters there.
Ben Broeders (Belgium) finished second, behind the Greek start, with 5.72m and good attempts at 5.82m while the Chinese champion, Bokai Huang was third with 5.62m.
In the women's competition, the bronze medallist from Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Holly Bradshaw (Great Britain) was the winner with a new meeting record as it was the very first time a women's competition was held to our meeting. Bradshaw jumped over 4.53m to take the win while the Hungarian champion Hanga Klekner jumped 4.43m and she was second. Ninon Chapelle, from France, jumped 4.43m and finshed in the third place.
